CGB-GEh. Loanna Molby, b. Oct. 2, 1830, in the town of Van Buren, Onondaga Co., N.Y. (Chester 5, Jonathan 4, Sam.3, Sam.2, Wm.1). m. May 25, 1854, Ruel Meigs, son of Phineas Meigs, Jr. and Polly Ingoldsby, his 2nd wife, he b. Dec. 30, 1823, in town of Van Buren.

Ruel Meigs was a farmer and for the most of his life lived in the town of Van Buren. For a very short time after his marriage he lived in Cayuga County, N.Y., and his first child was born there. After returning to Van Buren, he lived on the West Dead Creek road, about half way between Memphis and Baldwinsville. Ruel Meigs died Mar. 21, 1901, Ogdensburg, N.Y.

"Oct. 14, 1877. Baptized Anna and Harriet Ann Meigs, wife and daughter of Ruel Meigs.

Loanna and Ruel Meigs appear to have lived for the most part in the vicinity of Memphis, N.Y.

Jan. 30, 1878. At the residence of Ruel Meigs, in Van Buren, united in Holy Matrimony, Charles E. Daboll and Harriet A. Meigs. Witnesses. Isaac C. Burdick and Julia Daboll.

"Oct. 13, 1878. Baptized Grant R. Meigs, son of Ruel and Anna Meigs, b. Nov. 18, 1866. Sponsors: Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Daboll."

"Oct. 26, 1887. At 3 P.M., at residence of Joseph Goreth, Lysander, m. Grant R. Meigs of Van Buren and Miss Louise Goreth, dau. of Joseph and Lucinda Goreth. Witnesses: Mrs. Harriet A. Daboll and Frank R. Goreth.

May 1, 1900. Baptized Ruel Meigs, aged 77.

Mar. 23, 1901. At 1 p.m. in Grace Church attended funeral of Ruel Meigs, d. Feb. 21, of inflam. of kidneys, etc., aged 77 years. Burial at Baldwinsville."

   "Died-Meigs.

Ruel Meigs, one of the best known and most highly esteemed residents of Van Buren, has been in failing health for some time, and of late his chief malady has been a brain trouble. This grew worse until on Wednesday of last week he was taken to Ogdensburg. Mr. Meigs is nearly 80 years old, and the many friends of the family will regret that so serious a trouble has befallen him. Later--we learned this morning that Mr. Meigs d. in Ogdensburg last night. No funeral arrangements have yet been made." (He died Mar. 21, 1901). (Baldwinsville Gazette-issue of June 15, 1911)

   "Died-Meigs.

Entered into rest Sunday, June 11, 1911, Mrs. Loanna Meigs, widow of Ruel Meigs, aged 80 years and 8 months. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles Daboll, one son, Grant R. Meigs, and three

"grandchildren: Mrs. H.R.Snell of Medina, Mrs. R.L.Kratzer of Memphis and Frank C. Meigs of Baldwinsville. The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Daboll, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial was made in Riverview cemetery." (She d. at Dabell's (sic.) Corners in Van Buren). T. I. Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Ruel Meigs descended from Phineas Meigs, b. 1758 and his wife,
Elizabeth Hitchcock.  He was a Rev. War soldier.  Their son, Phineas
Meigs, Jr. mar. Polly Ingoldsby. (his 2nd wife).

There is an interesting item in the marriage of Polly Ingoldsby to Phineas Meigs, Jr. Her sister, Cynthia Ingoldsby, m. Grove (5) Maltby, b. May 3, 1782; mar. Oct. 9, 1805. In early life he resided near Rochester, N.Y.

Miss L.E.Voorhees of Baldwinsville, New York, kindly furnished the Ingoldsby data below.

John Ingoldsby, b. May 15, 1753, was a Rev. War soldier. Dr. Beauchamp says--"This pensioner was lame and infirm in 1820, and his dau. Olive, was then 23 years old. He saved $589.95, and his property amounted to $620.93, including his equity in 100 acres of farm land. He was a Lexington man, and also served in Capt. Wheeler's Co., Col. Nixon's Regt., Mass. Line, but was discharged under Capt. Thomas Barnes. He came here in 1812."

Mr. Louis J. Sears, Baldwinsville, N.Y., said that John Ingoldsby went to the battle of Lexington with a sawed off gun.

Tombstone Ins. Sorrel Hill Cemetery. Van Buren, Onondaga Co.,N.Y. "In memory of John Ingalsbe who died August 17, 1836, ae. 83-3-2. Rev. War Marker."

In 1820 John Ingoldsby bought land in Van Buren. On Feb. 7, 1829, he deeded the land to his son, Eber Ingoldsby, on condition that within four years he pay $60 each to the other six children.
